Wine Review Notes
Your review should include the following:
  • The vintage (the year the grapes were harvested) of the bottle.
  • The winery or vineyard where it was produced.
  • The appellation (wine region) specified on the bottle.
  • The type of grape (Cabernet, Chardonnay, Merlot ).
For example: I am reviewing the 1997 Whitehall Lane Cabernet bottled in Napa Valley California.

Describe the wine:

  • Describe its smell. (fruity, hints of tobacco, pepper).
  • What color is this wine? (deep purple, golden, etc. )
  • What does it taste like? (sweet, bitter, etc.).
For example: This wine is fruity on the nose; it has a soft golden color with a crisp finish .

Make a statement or recommendation:
  • This would pair best with grilled red meat.
  • I would not recommed this wine.
  • I loved this wine!
  • Shows potential, let it age another year.

Note: Most wine reviews are short.

You are not writing a short-story. Our database allows for up to 4096 characters in your notes. But most wine reviews are under 250 words ( about 1000 characters).

Don't worry about grammar! Wine reviews don't have to follow basic sentence structure and can be fun or serious, you decide....

Have fun!
